#21 Paintings by Helena-Reet Ennet: “His Highness Mouse the First” (series – painting nr.6), October 2020

At the beginning of October, I painted every day and several new paintings were completed, now I will post them one after another. As always, I prefer acrylic on canvas. If you ask me why, I have to admit that I just never used oil paints. Never. Acrylic paints were acquired first, and since they dry quickly, I have remained faithful to them. The paintings in my mouse series are still all upright and measure 30×40 cm. This is now the sixth painting in the series, half of the 12 paintings originally planned. To be honest, my ambitions have grown a bit .. I thought that 12 paintings to illustrate this upcoming children´s book is not enough – I will do more! So right now I’m thinking about 36 mouse paintings! Since we won a competition at the Estonian National Museum (I can organize an art exhibition with my works on a 130m2 exhibition area in the spring 2021), I am so full of enthusiasm and desire that I want to achieve even more! It is such a great feeling that such an opportunity opened up and I really try to do my best to get the maximum possible result! I really want this exhibition to succeed!  Of course, time flies fast and, alongside other activities (children, home, NordenBladet, etc.), it is very difficult to find free time. I am planning paintings, ceramics, display of herbs etc for the exhibition, and we will also make an E&S presentation (we will show the products and explain how our care products are made).

But now some more words about the sixth painting! In this painting, His Highness Mouse the First is in the bathroom, sitting in the bath (more precisely in a wooden barrel). At first, I made muddy green rubbers next to the bath, but for some reason they bothered me, and then I painted the work so that only the water that had fallen over the edge of the bath remained. The bathroom window is decorated with a beautiful yellow curtain (it was Ivanka’s idea!) And a gorgeous lamp with four candles hangs on the ceiling. A heavy wooden door with wrought iron details is open. The mouse is completely bare in this painting, and its usual ruler ‘s crown, a gorgeous vest with a large collar, and a sword that has passed through several previous pictures are not presented. As you can see, this painting has not yet been signed. I decided that from this painting, the pictures will not be signed until they have been scanned into computer for the book (I don’t want every picture in the children’s book to have my signature). 🙂

Sellel maalil on Tema Kõrgeausus Hiir Esiemene” vannis (õigemini puidust tünnis). Raske sepistatud detailidega puituks on praokil. 🙂
